Katie O’Neill

Mental Health Counselor

I believe every person is capable of growth and change.

  • Welcome! I am Katie, a compassionate, kind, and approachable therapist with a good sense of humor, who genuinely wants to see my clients thrive. I believe in the power of therapy wholeheartedly and am dedicated to creating a space where you feel supported, heard, and never judged. My goal is to help you work toward a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling, while walking alongside you every step of the way.

  • I offer a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment for healing. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we will identify your strengths, clarify your values, and create goals that support meaningful, sustainable change.

My approach emphasizes building resilience and helping you regain a sense of control and confidence in your life. I believe in the importance of setting healthy boundaries, practicing self-care, and identifying personal triggers. In our work together, we focus on grounding techniques, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and stress management, while also strengthening healthy habits and supportive relationships. I support clients in developing recovery plans, building strong support networks, and engaging in continuous learning to promote long-term growth and well-being.

  • I bring over 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher, school counselor, and administrator. Throughout my career in education, I have been deeply committed to supporting the emotional well-being and personal growth of individuals, which ultimately led me to pursue therapy as my true passion. In addition, I have four years of experience as a Clinical Therapist working with individuals with dual diagnoses, supporting those navigating both mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

I am trained in several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. My work is also strongly informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on building psychological flexibility. ACT encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and emotions rather than struggling against them, develop mindfulness and present-moment awareness, and identify personal values to guide meaningful actions and decisions. Through this approach, clients learn to reduce the impact of unhelpful thoughts and create lives that align with what matters most to them.

I integrate these therapeutic modalities in a thoughtful, individualized way to ensure that each client receives effective, research-supported treatment. I am also trauma-informed, meaning I prioritize safety, empowerment, and trust while recognizing and addressing the impact trauma can have on emotional and behavioral health.
